Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Melanie Liles has a Bachelor's degree in Education with a background in Theatre Design, and Visual Communications and Design. Through years of training in university and as an Art teacher, Melanie has developed a wide range of knowledge in all forms of art with her focus being on illustration and printmaking.

In addition to Melanie's educational background, she has had over seventeen years of experience as a successful, multi-disciplinary artist exhibiting at multiple venues such as Lattitude 53, SNAP Gallery, The Drawing Room, The Works Art and Design Festival, The Flying Canoe Volant Festival, and CAVA (Centre d'arts visuels de l'Alberta).

Melanie has always been strongly connected to the arts community in Edmonton whether it's through her various exhibitions, collaborations, educational development, programming, or volunteering with such organizations as Edmonton Made, The Edmonton Arts Council, The Environmental Artworks Foundation of Alberta, SNAP Gallery, Latitude 53, CAVA, and the Art Gallery of Alberta.
